The Junior IT Business Analyst is responsible for gaining a deep understanding of requirements and processes, an essential aspect of successful change delivery. The Business Analyst role will work with the wider IT and IT Projects Team to manage a pipeline of work from across the Firm, from inception to completion; ensuring that requirements are met, testing completed appropriately, and benefits are clear and realised. |
- Participate in face to face, virtual and hybrid workshops to gather requirements and agree project objectives.
- Stakeholder engagement - working closely with the business and key stakeholders to understand projects from a business perspective.
- Consider opportunities and risks and escalate to the Project Manager where appropriate.
- Work with the Project Manager to address any uncertainty and concerns raised by stakeholders.
- Gathering, documenting and prioritising requirements.
- Define and document business processes, including As Is analysis and To Be designs, including process maps and descriptions.
- Produce business analysis deliverables using relevant documentation styles in line with organisational standards and using appropriate tools.
- Contribute to the development of test plans and test scripts as well as performing test execution as required.
- Identify project benefits and work with the project team to identify ways to measure benefits throughout and beyond the projects end.
- Work with colleagues and other stakeholders to investigate operational issues, problems, and new opportunities, contributing to business process and IT system improvements.
- Take an active and hands-on approach in projects.
- Awareness of corporate, industry and professional standards related to IT project delivery.

- Knowledge and awareness of Project Management principles, documentation, and plans.
- Proactive and able to work autonomously with supervision from more senior team members.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise own work with good time management.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
Education/Experience:
- At least 1 year's operational experience of Business Analysis in an IT project delivery environment.
- Experience in using tools that support business analysis and project management e.g. Visio, Smartsheet
- Experience of successfully deploying business analysis tools/techniques to enable business change.
- Business Analyst qualification (e.g. BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis or equivalent) advantageous.
- Knowledge of the legal profession advantageous.

- The role will be working standard office hours, between 09.30 and 17:30 but it is essential that the applicant is committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond the normal office hours when necessary and in response to demand.
- The IT Team operates well with flexible people, each possessing good analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Weekend work may occasionally be required to support and deliver project work.
- Farrer & Co operates an agile working framework under which members of the firm are expected to spend at least 40% of their working hours in the office. This is a minimum expectation: individuals may elect or be asked or expected to work more frequently in the office, depending on circumstance.
