The Team

The Banking Team assists both lenders (particularly private banks), and borrowers in relation to loan facilities for trusts, corporates and individuals.  We advise on borrowing for investment, business, personal and charitable purposes and provide advice on all aspects of lending including priority of debts and security. The team covers a range of financing areas for domestic and international clients, including property finance, asset finance, general corporate lending, charity finance, private placements and syndicated lending.

Scope

The Farrer & Co Banking team is growing. We are looking for a bright and personable solicitor with a proven aptitude for banking work and between 2-4 years' post qualification experience to join our highly successful Banking team. The successful applicant should have general banking and property finance experience.

Responsibilities
  • Drafting facility agreement, security documents, ancillary finance documents and corporate authorisations
  • Managing small and large lending transactions for lenders and borrowers, with appropriate supervision, including liaising with clients, other law firms, overseas counsel and other teams within the firm
  • Advising on a wide range of queries relating to lending and security matters.
Skills and Experience
  • Strong academic background
  • Sound technical knowledge relating to banking law and practice
  • Interest and enthusiasm in respect of transactional banking work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starting approach to tasks and projects and ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to think laterally and apply knowledge and experience to a broad range of transactions and clients
  • Excellent organisational and transaction management skills.
Education and Qualifications
  • Minimum 2.1 degree and training or post-qualification experience from a mid-sized or city firm. 
Special aspects

The hours of work for this opportunity are 9:30am - 5:30pm but we would expect the successful candidate to be committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond the normal office hours if necessary and in response to client demand. You will be expected to follow the firm’s agile working policy, which embraces home working but will require employees to spend a minimum number of days each week in the London office.

Farrer & Co is open to flexible working by arrangement although this role is intended as a full-time position.
