Scope

The purpose of this role is to work alongside our existing database analyst and together be responsible for the administration and optimisation of the firm’s database infrastructure.  The firm is looking to continue to develop its use of business data and the methods used to present this to key clients and stakeholders across all areas of the business.   The successful candidate will assist in strategically designing, developing, and implementing databases, data warehouses and business intelligence systems which allow us to maximise the value of the firm's data.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the integrity, security, backup, disaster recovery and availability of database systems.

  • Document the data architecture and environment in order to maintain a current and accurate view of the larger data picture.
  • Act as technical lead or a technical resource on project work as required.
  • Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
  • Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
  • Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels and perform database security audits.

  • ETL processes: experience with SSIS is essential and experience with Azure Data Factory would be helpful.
  • Data analysis and data modelling.
  • Experience of building front end BI solutions/dashboards using reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and Excel.
  • Experience of working with APIs.
  • Previous legal experience would be ideal, specifically knowledge of Aderant PMS and Intapp products, specifically Integration Builder.
  • Ability to build relationships and focus on delivering excellent customer service.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach, a self-starter who can take the initiative and work both independently and collaboratively as part of a fully integrated team.
  • Proven hands-on experience of developing BI solutions within a professional services environment, ideally a law firm but not essential.
  • Innovative and flexible with a strong customer service ethic.
  • Confident manner and personal impact to command the respect of peers and colleagues.
  • Energy and enthusiasm to manage new initiatives.

  • On-site or remote evening and weekend working should be expected as part of the role to accommodate system maintenance and support where necessary.
  • The hours of work for this opportunity are 9:30am - 5:30pm but we would expect the successful candidate to be committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond the normal office hours if necessary and in response to client demand. You will be expected to follow the firm’s agile working policy, which embraces home working but will require employees to spend a minimum number of days each week in the London office.
