Scope

To provide comprehensive support in implementing a new LMS, and owning the ongoing use, administration, and development of the new LMS with a particular focus on specific stakeholders including the KL&D team, the Knowledge Lawyers and Knowledge Assistants and the IT training team; and championing the KL&D team, its projects and its role in meeting the Firm's strategy.

Responsibilities

We currently have an LMS and have commenced a project to source a new LMS provider. This role will involve administration of our current LMS, participation in the project team to source our new LMS, including assisting with setting up the new system, data migration, content management, LMS training, championing our new LMS at launch (January 2023) and ongoing administration and development:

  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) which captures all events falling under the firm learning syllabus
  • Be the point of contact with the LMS provider and our internal clients
  • Perform daily LMS administration tasks including:
    • user account management including working with HR and IT to resolve any issues
    • updating course details
    • managing attendance at courses and events
    • uploading course materials and eLearning
    • collating feedback
    • producing reports and analysing platform and course-level data to identify and act on usage insights?
    • training individuals to use the system (including user guides)
    • dealing with end user requests
  • Work with KL&D team members and other stakeholders to create and run all training activities for in-person, virtual and online training within the LMS
  • Work with the IT Team and third parties to integrate the LMS with other software  tools and vendors as necessary
  • Build and maintain LMS learning tracks
  • Develop and maintain standardised documentation on LMS-related operational processes.
  • Manage the deployment of online compliance training and produce completion reports when requested
  • Work with the L&D Adviser to analyse data and recommend solutions to maximise the firm’s return on investment in L&D
  • Fully understand the LMS capabilities; stay on top of new updates and functionality and keep the team informed.
  • Together with the KL&D team, and others, consider new technologies and ways of delivering blended learning solutions
  • Manage the LMS client interface to enable effective roll-out of our external client learning programmes
  • Facilitate regular review meetings with stakeholders, including IT, to ensure LMS is meeting requirements and business needs
Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with a Learning Management System preferably in a professional services (or similar) environment. Experience in a law firm would be an advantage;
  • Confidence in using IT systems (including MS Office 365) and with a working knowledge of Excel;
  • An enthusiasm for IT and technology projects;
  • Experience in authoring tool software (e.g. Articulate, Captivate or similar) (desirable but not necessary);
  • An awareness of the commercial world;
  • An interest in networking and building your profile;
  • A desire to work in a well-established, fast-paced team which values an innovative, solutions focussed approach.

Education and Qualifications
  • You will have obtained good grades at Advanced Level or equivalent and with 5 GCSEs (including English Language) at grades A to C.
Special aspects

The hours of work for this opportunity are 9:30am - 5:30pm but we would expect the successful candidate to be committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond the normal office hours if necessary and in response to client demand. You will be expected to follow the firm’s agile working policy, which embraces home working but will require employees to spend a minimum number of days each week in the London office.

Farrer & Co is open to flexible working by arrangement although this role is intended as a full-time.
